Dr Michael Kimwele

Dr. Michael W. Kimwele is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing within the School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Kenya. He holds a BSc. Mathematics and Computer Science-First Class Honours from JKUAT, a Masters in Information Technology Management from University of Sunderland UK and a Doctorate in Information Technology from JKUAT.

 Currently, he is the Director-School of Computing and Information Technology at JKUAT. Dr. Kimwele has authored a commendable number of research papers in international/national conferences/journals and also supervises postgraduate students in Computer Science/Information Technology. His main research interests are in Software Engineering, Computer Security and Social Computing. He is the Deputy Management Representative (DMR) for the College of Pure and Applied Sciences (COPAS) at JKUAT; a responsibility that ensures that management systems processes conform to the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 standards. 

Dr. Kimwele serves as Head Judge: Technology Category- Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) https://ysk.co.ke/ This is a unique initiative that gives young people from across Kenya an opportunity to demonstrate innovation and showcase their scientific talents through a National Science and Technology competition.
