Mr Snehar Shah

Snehar Shah, CFA brings over 25 years of diverse experience in multiple industries, geographies building and running businesses to Moringa School to scale it to the next level. Snehar holds a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College, London and Financial Qualifications in Chartered Accountancy from PwC and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) while doing Equity Research at HSBC Investment Bank. Snehar spent 12 years at Orange/France Telecom in various roles in Strategy, Finance and Innovation in UK, Europe and in Kenya where he was Deputy CFO and launched the Orange Money business in partnership with Equity Bank.

Snehar then joined as the start-up CFO of Eaton Towers in Kenya and Uganda with the acquisition of 3,000+ telecom towers from Airtel, Orange, Warid financed by more than $500m of Equity and Debt. Having built this profitable business with predictable long term cash flows, the business was then sold to American Tower for $1.85bn.

Snehar has been the Africa MD of Azuri Technologies, a Pay-As-You-Go solar company that he built over the past 5 years to power more than 250,000 households across 5 countries in Africa, employing more than 3,000 resources and funded by Equity investors (IP Group Plc and Marubeni Corporation of Japan) as well as Off Balance sheet debt providers including DFI’s such as the European Commission.

Snehar is excited to join Moringa School to build on the foundations over the past 7 years to drive the Series A fundraise, scale up the business beyond Kenya across the continent and advance the mission of building talent and opportunities through transformative, tech-based learning experiences by building the optimal ecosystem with like-minded partners.

Snehar has served on various board positions as Chair of Telposta Pension scheme, Vice Chair of the Oshwal Academies and Board Member of the Kenya Renewable Energy Association. He currently serves on the ExCo as Communications Officer of the Young President’s Organisation and is a Mentor on the Endeavor Network and has been recognised as the “Top 40 Under 40” by Business Daily Africa.
